Recently Earnest Graham signed a 3 year, $10m deal with the Bucs (at least where I read). This is the writing on the wall for all the Cadillac Williams fans. After suffering a season ending patella tendon injury last season, Williams will almost certainly start on the PUP list this season and may not even play in 2008. Supposedly he’s been working out extremely well and has had an amazing comeback, but is still not allowed to participate contact drills.

My take is his career is basically over. I was never impressed with Carnell in the last two years. His rookie season showed tremendous potential - especially the first three games - but ultimately with an at best mediocre line and the injury bug constantly biting him Carnell never evolved into the fantasy running back many hoped he would be.

I think Carnell will come back to some fanfare, but he will never again touch elite status and then fade into the NFL abyss.

Title: You all wont believe this…Worth Reading, Nasty tactics before our Draft….!!!!

Post: I got to hand it to him with no hard feelings……But he must of had some big ballz to pull this off. Our draft is in 2 1/2 wks and I do alot of note taking jotting down stuff for ffootball. I have been very lucky but also pretty successful in ffootball since 1995 i have only been out of the top 4 twice in a 12 man league. (not tryin to brag)

Anyways, My house is up for sale and on the market. He gets a realtor he knows personally to supposedly “show my house”. Instead he goes straight to my office, finds my fantasy stuff and notes, proceeds to copy them on my fax. How did i find out? I pulled up to see his car with him walking outside with several sheets of white paper (i didnt let him see me, just thought it was strange). I didnt think anything at first but when I went to my office, the ffootball stuff was moved around and my fax was out of paper beeping.

The Bastarddd has my stuff………Oh well, gotta give it to the ratbastard………thought yall would enjoy.

I knew ffootball was serious but not a covert operation…..LOL

This gets into that area where it’s funny because it’s so competitive but also robust because it’s illegal and would cause the realtor to lose his job. If its all in good fun and in stride among the friends as it appears to be, then it’s a funny, but competitive tactic.

First problem is he gets drafted by the second round. How many better values at QB can you find? There are a ton.

Second problem is he really doesn’t care about stats. The guy will have 0 TDs and be happy to get the win.

Third is he might not have Marvin Harrison this season and we all saw what happened to the Colts passing game without Marvin Harrison last season. Still respectable, but Peyton had to do a lot more scrambling and got hit a lot more.

Fourth relates to the second problem in that he’s inconsistent. He had 7 out of 16 games less season with 1 or 0 TDs. That’s a lot of games where the star QB you drafted in the late first, early second round isn’t getting the job done.

Fifth is I think the Colts rely on Joseph Addai more next year.

I got Peyton down for 29-14-3900. Nice stats, but give me Tony Romo or Ben Roethlisberger later.

I saw a handful at the local bookstore.

Flipped through all of them, but didn’t have the time to investigate anything. I saw the price tag on one was $8.99 - yikes. That better be some damn good research. I mean think about it, if the most you can win in your league is $100 (and that’s if you win) you’ve already spent 9% of that just researching from one source. Another magazine was $6.99. What happened to the days when magazines were $2.99 and $3.99?

Oh well, can’t really blame them. Everyone is trying to make a dollar and they just want to see how far they can push the market without getting backlash.

NFL.com had an awesome holograph with Tom Brady on the cover. At that point it’s almost worth it as a collectible. I still have my Tatum Bell Fantasy Football Index magazine. Man that prediction was legendary. The owner got all ruffled when he read about it on my review site - FFmagazineReview. All that tells me is he needs to get real.

Apparently the denial is rampant. Here’s a post from FFtoday:

Of course, you don’t have to be very bold to challenge the assertions of the Index these days, since the staff is still trying to live down last year’s “Tatum Bell is the key to your draft” claim.

I actually liked the boldness of their claim. Yeah it was a huge Jose Canseco swing and a miss, but I like to see that from an expert. Anybody can tell you the safe picks. I want to know the big predictions. That Tatum Bell cover went south, but it could have just as easily branded them as geniuses for life.

On top of that fantasy football is a best guess game. No one is all the way right 100% of the time and you’re going to be even less right when you start making the big man lumberjack predictions. That’s just the nature of it all. They made a giant prediction and it was completely wrong. So what? Doesn’t mean they still don’t know their stuff. To me the only thing they (or maybe it was just one person) did wrong was try to play it off. Instead of trying to sweep your cover under the rug, own up and then try to make an even bolder prediction next year.

This post went west, but I had no direction when I started so there’s no reason for me to try to have one now. Oh yeah, one more thing, one footballguys.com put WP on their cover page - a guy I drafted mid first round - and he had 2 rushing TDs. Hmmm I need to have a player be my pick of the year. It has to be someone that isn’t a consensus good pick. Has to be somewhat of a surprise. I’ll think about it and I’ll get back to you. No matter who it is, I guarantee I won’t pretend I didn’t make the pick after the season is over.

He’s not a true sleeper because people know about him, but I’ll bet that he outplays his ADP never the less.

He’s none other than the Bears Adrian Peterson. Expect 1000 yards and 7 TDs baseline as he’s going to get the chance to shine in Chicago and I believe he can do it.

Bears Sign Tommie Harris

This was a good move, but at the same time a no brainer. While they gave him a ton (40m over four years with 18 guaranteed), Harris has proven himself as a guy that can cause havoc and may actually be more important than Brian Urlacher is now. Next up for the Bears is both Devin Hester and Urlacher.

They need to unload money for both. Devin Hester deserves a huge contract and Brian Urlacher has earned a respectfully larger contract. The question becomes how close it gets to Harris as Urlacher is 30 and Harris is 25.

Whatever the case, as fantasy owners we’re hoping the Bears get the job done as the Bears are slight sleepers this year after an abysmal season last year and an inconsistent season before that. If they can only stay healthy - this means you Mike Brown - they can put up mammoth fantasy points and be worth of an 8th round pick with value possibly tapping into the 5th round. Three seasons ago the Bears were generating massive fantasy points nearly every game. The last two seasons Devin Hester has been covering for slightly above mediocre team D.

If this team is completely healed with everybody back, I’ve got the Bears at #2 behind Minnesota. They’ve got some question marks as to whether they gain regain their top form of 3 seasons despite age and lack of cohesiveness, but if they put the players they have on the field, they’ll put up a decent amount of points even if they have lost a step.

Adewale Ogunleye, Lance Briggs, Hunter Hillenmeyer, Alex Brown, Danieal Manning, Charles Tillman, and Nathan Vasher in addition to the names mentioned comprise an explosive fantasy defense worthy of a #2 Defensive Team Selection.

Terry Glenn collected his paycheck last season, playing in only a cameo appearance in the last game of the season and now he doesn’t want to sign a waiver for Jerry Jones. I’m not one to usually lobby for the owners, but if it was my money, I’d want a waiver too. Glenn cashed last season and with the state of his knee, there’s really nothing from stopping him from doing it again. Glenn has stated he’s not signing a waiver.

Bye Terry Glenn.

Hello Patrick Crayton.

Crayton has the makings of a very nice WR2 on Dallas’ high octane offense. Last year he had 697 yards to go with 7 TDs on 50 catches. With experience and a more assured role going into this season, you can expect even better numbers.

I have Crayton at 850 and 8 this season. Obviously there’s no way of knowing any legitimate Average Draft Position for the draft, but I think Crayton is fairly priced in the 8th round.

Fantasy Football Blog

I expect Felix Jones to be one of the few rookies that can be expected to be an impact player in his first year. Dallas’ #22 pick was expected, but wise. With Jones, the Cowboys have a complete change of pace back to compliment Marion Barber. Jones contrasts Barber in that he has great speed and is very proficient at catching passes out of the backfield whereas Barber is more of a straightfoward, power runner that absorbs contact and punishes defenders.

This is very exciting news for the Cowboys offense. Jones will fit seemlessly into their scheme as he is already acclimated to splitting carries after running behind Darren McFadden at Arkansas. Expect Felix to be a marked improvement over the somewhat soft Julius Jones who only got better as he got jealous of Marion Barber’s success and increased role.

Barber benefits because his style doesn’t lend itself to being a complete feature back. While the talent is there, if Barber logged 20 carries a game, he would be on the verge of retirement in three years. Furthermore, the prolific Dallas offense will alleviate any initial pressure from Felix Jones as he won’t be relied upon to carry the burden of being the main weapon on offense (ala Marshawn Lynch in Buffalo).

Early Prediction: 750 yards, 4 TDs rushing, 2 TDs receiving

Should Barber go down, Jones would probably be a great start as far as speculation prior to summer. Definitely handcuff Barber with Jones.
